There was tension in Rukpokwu and Rumuodumanya areas of Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State Thursday morning as a trigger happy police officer shot and killed a tricycle rider popularly known as Keke.
Eye witness account had it that the victim was shot by the police officer because he refused to part with a bribe of N100.

The witness said that the police officer stopped the ‘Keke’ rider and demanded a bribe of N100, saying that his refusal to part with the money angered the police officer who shot him at close range.
“The police officer stopped the ‘Keke’ rider and requested for a bribe of N100.
“The ‘Keke’ rider refused and this infuriated the police officer who opened fire on him at a close range,” the witness said.
The incident infuriated the youths of the area as they went violent and set burn fire on the road.
There was tension in the area as all the roads leading to Rumudomanya and Rukpoku were blocked by angry youths just as residents scampered for safety.
Rivers State Police Command’s Public Relation Officer, SP Nnmadi Omoni, confirmed the story.
He said that the police officer has been disarmed and arrested.
