Politicians must stop using our youth as thugs

I would like to draw the attention of Nigerian politicians to the dangers of accommodating a large number of political hooligans to support them in achieving their political goals. Despite the fact that some of these political hoodlums are educated, they have failed to recognise their ill-doings; engaging in such nasty acts. 

However, as leaders who are responsibly expected to shun this horrible menace of causing chaos by employing political thugs, they should desist from encouraging criminality. 

Nigerian youths, on their part, should always be reminded that it is best for them to engage in legitimate business rather than following politicians who would abandon them after the elections. 

 If they are preoccupied with one business or another i.e a small-scale business, at least, they would not have time for the politicians to draw them into such illegal acts. 

I, therefore, urge our politicians to stick to the warning by Chief Obafemi Awolowo that, “The children of the poor that you failed to educate would not let your children sleep peacefully.” This citation clearly explains the dangers of refusing to give proper education to the children of the poor.
