The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has condemned park management structures planned by some states, alleging that it is a ploy to groom thugs for the 2023 general elections.

National President of the union, Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa, said the planned initiative was against the spirit of Decrees numbers 21 and 22, which set up NURTW as a trade union, which has an affiliation with the Nigeria Labour Congress.

Baruwa, in a statement issued yesterday, said the NURTW viewed the park management initiative in some states as exploitative, fraudulent and an attempt to groom thugs and clowns for the politicians.

“With this development, park management is not known to any law establishing the union, rather it is meant to encourage reign of terror,” he added.

Baruwa also said the event in Lagos State Council leading to the National Administration Council’s decision to suspend Mr Musiliu Akinsanya alias M C Oluomo was meant to instill discipline among the members of the union.
