We are approaching the election season and as such there is the tendency of political crises to erupt in parts of the country. There will be cases of those currently in power fighting their opponents. That shouldn’t be the case. Politicians should do everything possible to maintain peace in their domains. They must be mindful of the fact that if they fight their opponents, they are indirectly calling on their supporters to do the same. We need peace in the country and anything that could affect that should be avoided. Any aggrieved person should seek redress through legal and acceptable means.
Nobody should take the law into his/her hands. All those currently in power should ensure that a level playing field is provided for people seeking political offices. The masses should be allowed to decide who leads them. Nobody should be muscled or deprived of an opportunity to lead. Our democracy ought to have matured beyond what currently obtains and we should be worried about that. All of us should work together to grow our democracy.
