Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Sola Collins Adebayo, told Daily Trust in Lokoja that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Samuel Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, had a meeting with politicians where he advised them not to go against the law during the election.
He said that after the presidential and National Assembly elections, the police were aware of the plan by some politicians to attack Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) staff during the House of Assembly election in the state.
He said that any politician caught going against the law, no matter how highly placed, would be arrested and prosecuted. He stated that the commissioner has ordered all police formations in the state to arrest those found flouting the law.
He added that the police commissioner has briefed the divisional police officers in the state to come up with strategies to curb violence during the election.
The PPRO, however, identified Ayingba, Ayetoro, Igalamela, Odolu, Ebiya, Ajaka among other areas as violence prone zones.
