Ishaku, who stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Correspondent Chapel of NUJ in Taraba, explained that his ambition was not worth the blood of any citizen of the state.
He said his political campaigns across the state so far have been issue-based and devoid of intimidation, adding he is seeking the people’s mandate in order to serve them.
Ishaku said he had attracted a lot of projects to the state while serving as minister and assured Taraba people of more infrastructural development if voted in the forthcoming elections.
While noting that journalists and the media are critical stakeholders in the success of the forthcoming elections, Ishaku urged them to handle their duties with all sense of responsibility and objectivity in the interest of the society.
“I urge you as professional colleagues to be diligent in your work and make sure what you are reporting is what will help the society. As journalists, you are carrying a heavy weight and you have to do it with sense of responsibility”, he said.
Chairman of the Correspondent Chapel, Wole Ayodele, thanked him for the visit and assured that journalists would give all candidates vying for various positions fair coverage in the forthcoming elections.
