The FCT chapter of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) has refuted rumors that the party collected N60 million from some politicians to swap chairmanship aspirants ahead of the February 21, 2026 council election in the territory.
The FCT state secretary of the ADC, Oguh Hygenus John, addressed newsmen at the party’s secretariat in Abuja on Monday, describing such information as baseless.
He also denied rumours that some aides of Senator Ireti Kingibe allegedly collected N50 million to facilitate the swapping of chairmanship candidates from other political parties.
He described such information as false and unfounded, stating it was deliberately orchestrated by some frustrated politicians to tarnish the reputation of the party and its leadership in the FCT.
John emphasized that the ADC in the FCT has no intention now or in the future to swap, replace, or invalidate the mandate of any candidate who legitimately won their nomination.
