The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Bida, Dr. Abubakar A. Dzukogi has said lack of adequate funding is a major challenge facing polytechnics in Nigeria.
He made this known during the inauguration of newly elected National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) executives at Bagudu Waziri Auditorium Bida, Niger State.  He said poor funding was the main problem militating against the development of polytechnics. “If we can have full funding, all our problems will be solved,” he said.
He urged the newly inaugurated executives to jettison the BSc and HND dichotomy and pay more attention to their studies.
The NAPS President Olugbenga Adeyeye Mathew said the issue of poor funding had negative effect on learning, adding that the BSc/HND dichotomy will not distract the attention of the new executives.
He also advised the Federal Government to invest more in technical education.
