Ange Postecoglou has been confirmed as Nottingham Forest’s new head coach following the dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo, who left after just three games of the new season and 21 months in charge.

Postecoglou, 60, returns to management three months after being sacked by Tottenham, where he endured a poor league campaign but delivered a historic Europa League triumph to end the club’s long trophy drought.

Forest, currently 10th in the Premier League, face Arsenal on Saturday in his first game.

He becomes the eighth permanent manager appointed since Evangelos Marinakis assumed ownership in May 2017.
