Speaking in Sokoto yesterday, he said: “We have now understood the wisdom behind his stance which was erroneously interpreted and politicised by some Nigerians.”
Gummi added: ‘’It has now been made abundantly clear that Dasuki has been vindicated and the call for the postponement of elections was done out of national interest and not for any selfish reasons.”
He commended the Nigerian troops in the North-East for liberating almost all our territories under the control of Boko Haram, calling on the Federal Government to motivate the Nigerian military, especially those fighting the insurgents by improving their allowance.
Gummi allayed fears over any post-election violence in the North, saying the election would be conducted peacefully in the country just like it was done in the past.
He advised southerners residing in the region to stay back and continue with their businesses, stressing that nothing would happen after the general election.
“It is not good for southerners to start leaving the North because of this election. Let them stay back wherever they are in the North and nothing will happen.There is no need for Ibos and other tribes to run away from the North,” he stated.
Gummi stressed the need  for all Nigerians to unite and stay together irrespective of religious and tribal affiliation.
“We need to unite and as Nigerians, we need one another. And wherever you are, if the country is not in peace, you will be in trouble. So, we need to pray fervently for God to intervene so that we can have peace in the country,” he said.
