The Emir of Potiskum Emirate in Yobe State, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Umaru Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya, has conferred traditional titles on three distinguished sons of the domain.

The Emir honoured the individuals in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the development of the Potiskum Emirate and Yobe State at large.

Among the honourees is the former Provost of Umar Suleiman College of Education, Gashua, and the former Rector of CAMTECH, Potiskum, Professor Usman Muhammad Dakasku, who was conferred with the title of Madakin Potiskum.

Others honoured include Hakimi Adamu Abubakar Bataba, who was turbaned as Zarma-Gana of Potiskum, and Alhaji Sani Umaru Badejo, who was confirmed as Marusan Potiskum.

Earlier, a delegation from the Emirate, led by the Shattiman Potiskum, Sheikh Muhammad Zakariya, presented letters of appointment to the honourees ahead of the formal conferment.

The delegation first visited the residence of the new Madakin Potiskum, Professor Dakasku, where his appointment letter was formally presented. They later proceeded to the residences of the new Marusan of Potiskum and Zarma-Gana and to present their respective letters.

Speaking to the honourees, Sheikh Muhammad Zakariya stated that the conferment of the titles was based on merit and in accordance with the rich cultural heritage of the Potiskum Emirate.

According to him, traditional titles are bestowed on deserving individuals as a means of preserving the dignity and legacy of the Emirate.

The official turbaning ceremony, held at the Emir’s Palace, showcased the rich royal traditions and cultural heritage of the domain.

The event was attended by the Emir, alongside relatives, friends, well-wishers, and dignitaries from within and beyond the Emirate.

In their remarks, associates and attendees commended the Emir for preserving the sanctity of traditional institutions.

They also expressed appreciation for his commitment to recognising worthy ambassadors of the Emirate through the conferment of traditional titles.

The event highlights the Emirate’s continued role in promoting unity, leadership, and cultural preservation within the community and beyond.
