The Emir of Potiskum, Alhaji Umar Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya has paid a solidarity visit to the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Emir Bauya is the first traditional ruler from outside Kano to visit Sanusi following his reappointment as emir, a position being contested by Aminu Ado Bayero since the dissolution of the Kano emirates in May.

During the visit, Emir Bauya expressed his support for Emir Sanusi, who also serves as the spiritual leader of the Tijaniyya Sect in Nigeria.

Reflecting on his experience, Bauya stated, “History is repeating itself. I faced a similar situation 26 years ago, but with Allah’s help, I was reinstated and now live peacefully with my people.”

Bauya also sought Sanusi’s assistance in completing the construction of a Jumaat mosque at his palace, a project that has stalled due to financial constraints.

“We are seeking your support to complete the Jumaat mosque we began constructing three years ago. Financial difficulties have delayed the project, and we hope you will continue to assist us,” he said.

In response, Emir Sanusi expressed gratitude for the visit and praised the longstanding unity between the Kano and Potiskum Emirates, emphasising the positive impact it would have on the well-being and security of their communities.
