Stakeholders including investors and experts have converged on Abeokuta, Ogun State, for this year’s edition of the Nigeria Poultry Show.

The yearly Nigeria Poultry Show, an exhibition show of Poultry Association Nigeria (PAN) attracts stakeholders in the livestock sector for a three-day program to discuss challenges in the sector and the way out. The three days event which began on Tuesday ends today.

The 2021 edition is themed “De-Risking the Nigerian Poultry Industry: Stabilising critical inputs and market prices for sustainability.”

In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Dr Olalekan Odunsi, said the NPS 2021 focused on bringing researchers, experts, investors and farmers to “an interactive practical poultry business session where reports from field and farmers experience are shared.”

The former PAN President, Dr Ayoola Oduntan, called on farmers to keep faith despite the challenges confronting the sector.

“Let’s continue to have faith. No matter what happens, 200million Nigerians have nowhere to go, they must feed. And we are the ones to provide the food for them, and in the process, many of us will become a multi-millionaire,” he said. 

The theme speaker, Dr Tunde Adegoke, called on Nigerians to look inward and solve the crisis in a local way, saying “solutions cannot come from abroad.”
