The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), in Plateau State has selected 50 participants to undergo a three months’ practical training in poultry farming and production.

The participants, who are mostly women, have already undergone two weeks experiential training by the NDE, said the State Coordinator, Mark Mato in Jos.

Mato, while addressing the participants at the orientation of two weeks training for Implementation of the 2019 Sustainable Agricultural Development Scheme (SADTS), said the SADTS refers to an agricultural production and distribution system which helps to provide more profitable farm income, promote environmental stewardship and enhance quality of life for families of farmers and their communities.

He urged the participants to exploit, what he described as a rare opportunity to be attentive and participate fully throughout the training period so as to become self reliant.

On his part, the Director General of the NDE Dr. Nasiru Ladan Mohammed, who was represented by Nkem Ekeamadi, urged the participants to at the end of the training form cooperatives of minimum of 10 people and get it registered.

Earlier, the NDE Head of Rural Employees Promotion in Plateau State, Asabe Lassa described the training as desirable, coming at a time when efforts are being put in place to improve the quality of poultry farming and enhance the economic stability of the beneficiaries.

She stated that the training would promote self reliance for the development of families of farmers, Plateau States and the country.
