Prague – City of Literature offers residency stays for foreign writers and translators for two months.
The program provides accommodation for free, a stipend of 600 euro per month and reimburses residents’ return ticket.
To be eligible, writers or translators are expected to have a cultural interest in the location and a basic knowledge of English language. Applicants must also be published writers of at least one literary work, or two broadcast or published radio dramas or one carried out or a published theatre play or at least one translated work of a Czech author.
During the program, residents do participate in the local literary life. They also attend author readings, meet students, have talks, or other activities arranged by the receiving institution or connected to the cultural events of the city. Writers would work on their writing during the stay.
After the Prague – City of Literature residency, writers must provide the Municipal Library in Prague with the text inspired by their stay. The Municipal Library in Prague will enter into a license agreement with the author to use the text in electronic and printed publications.
Since October 2015, Prague – City of Literature has run six residencies every year. Its selection process happens during August and September.
Deadline for applications is August 31 2018.
