Pray for INEC to overcome its challenges – Nasarawa Speaker

Nigerians have been enjoined to pray for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to outcome its challenges in the best interest of the nation.

The Speaker of Nasarawa State House Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, made the call in Umaisha, Toto Local Government Area of the state on Sunday, while reacting to the postponement of the general elections.

“I am calling on Nigerians to pray, be calm and take the pains by coming out en masse next Saturday to vote according to their conscience.

He said Nigerians should not be demoralised by the postponement of the election by one week.

Abdullahi, however, emphasised the need for INEC to be proactive before the new date to ensure the success of the exercise.

The speaker said though the postponement of the election was painful and surprising, there was need for all to accept it as an act of God that would reflect the wishes and aspirations of Nigerians at the end of the day.

He further enjoined the electorate to refrain from any act that could breach peace and harmony before, during and after the elections.
