The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has urged intending pilgrims embarking on the 2023 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia through the state to pray for the country.

The governor made the plea in his keynote address at a one-day seminar organised by the state’s Muslim pilgrims’ board as the state prepared for the airlift of pilgrims which begins on June 4.

Speaking through his Deputy, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the governor said the country was very much in need of prayers as a new government had taken off.

The immediate past Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi, announced that 3,588 intending pilgrims would be performing the spiritual exercise through the state.

He also stated that the first batch would depart from Lagos to Madinah on Sunday, June 4, through Flynas Airline, a Saudi-based airline, adding that the airline had been known for excellent service delivery over the years.
