A pregnant woman, Nafisa Saleh, has connived with two others to mastermind her own kidnap in Damaturu, the state capital of Yobe State.
She was reported to have been missing on October 1, 2021, on her way to the Specialist Hospital, Damaturu for antenatal care.
After her kidnap, her collaborators called her husband and demanded ransom.
But police investigation later revealed that Nafisa, the supposed victim, turned out to be the mastermind of her alleged kidnap for ransom from her husband and family members.
The police spokesman of Yobe State command, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, in a statement on Tuesday, disclosed that police detectives in Damaturu swung into action and uncovered the heinous act.
He said the police eventually arrested two suspects, namely, Goni Modu and Umar Mai Gudusu, all of Dadinge Village in Gujba Local Government Area of the state.
Meanwhile, Nafisa was rushed to the hospital for medical attention due to complaints of her health status.
Dungus said the police also arrested two other suspects over the kidnap of a three-year-old boy in Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe.
“The suspects were all boys; the principal suspect aged 14 and the second suspect aged 12. The third suspect was however on the run.
“Recall that on September 18, 2021, Adamu Abubakar Baban Yawo of Potiskum town, aged three, was kidnapped and later released by his assailants after collecting N50, 000 ransom,” he said in the statement.
He explained that the command has commenced investigation for subsequent prosecution while concerted effort is on to arrest the fleeing culprit.
