The Kebbi State police have rescued a pregnant woman, Hajiya Sadiya Tsoho, from kidnappers’ hideout in the state.

The command’s spokesman, DSP Mustapha Suleiman, who confirmed the release of the victim on Sunday, said the police rescued her and no ransom was paid.

Hajiya Sadiya, wife of Malam Anas Sha’aban, owner of the popular Sha’aban Supermarket in Birnin-Kebbi, was reportedly kidnapped on Sunday last week by gunmen at her husband’s residence in Birnin Kebbi and whisked away to a  desert area along Mahuta village in the southern area of Kebbi State.

It was gathered that the gunmen had laid ambushed for her husband at Rafin Atiku, in Birnin Kebbi for many hours on Sunday, but when he did not turn up as expected they decided to go to his house to get him. However, only his pregnant wife was at home and they kidnapped her.

The kidnappers thereafter contacted her husband and demanded for N200 million as ransom for her release.

Suleiman said the police rescued the woman at Mahuta area of Fakai from her abductors, adding that while she has been reunited with her family, operatives were still on the trail of the kidnappers.
