The presidency has approved the appointment of Kolawole Banwo as civil society representative on the National Stakeholders Working Group (NSWG) of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).
Banwo is a senior programme officer (Extractives) at the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC). 
CISLAC board of trustees said Banwo’s appointment was made in line with provisions of the NEITI Act 2007.
It took effect from February 19, 2016 and will run for four years.
Adesina Oke, legal director for the CISLAC board, in a statement thanked the president for finding Mr. Banwo worthy of the appointment and assured that he would give his best in representing civil society on the NSWG of NEITI.
“As the main overseer of CISLAC’s extractive work, Mr. Banwo, who has led the organisation’s campaign and advocacy for strengthening the implementation of the NEITI process at sub-national and national levels in Nigeria and across the West African sub-region, has the requisite knowledge and network of support and collaboration with civil society to deliver on his assignment,” said Oke.
“CISLAC has been and remains in the vanguard of civil society engagement with extractive sector work in Nigeria, including having to serve on the very first steering committee of Publish What You Pay (PWYP-Nigeria) constituted in 2004,” he added.
