As emir, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now known as Mohammadu Sanusi 11. What is, however, news and strange is that President Goodluck Jonathan is yet to congratulate Sanusi and the people of Kano.
Expectedly, when Ado Bayero died, the politics of who would succeed him took centre stage. At the end, the former CBN governor was appointed, amidst sponsored protests though. Nigerians, and indeed, the whole world were interested in who would take over the traditional stool of Kano.
It was, however, said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) congratulated him, but the party is different from the president. Now, concerned Nigerians have been asking: Is the president angry with the people of Kano? Even if he is still keeping malice with the former governor of the CBN, he should, at least congratulate the people of Kano for successfully appointing a new emir. He should understand that whatever happened was not an accident as Sanusi was destined to become the Emir of Kano. And there was nothing anybody would have done about it. It is widely believed that his suspension from the CBN cleared the way to the throne.
Sanusi did a good job at the CBN, and therefore, deserves commendation instead of vilification.
