President Tinubu, adjust imbalance in creation of new tertiary institutions
Your Excellency Sir, you may wish to note that out of the four Federal Colleges of Education (FCEs) originally identified for upgrade by the past administrations (FCE Zaria, the oldest, FCE Kano, FCE Alvan Ikoku Owerri, and Adeyemi FCE Akure Ondo) only two were selected to commence operation and are both from the south (Owerri […]
Your Excellency Sir, you may wish to note that out of the four Federal Colleges of Education (FCEs) originally identified for upgrade by the past administrations (FCE Zaria, the oldest, FCE Kano, FCE Alvan Ikoku Owerri, and Adeyemi FCE Akure Ondo) only two were selected to commence operation and are both from the south (Owerri and Ondo) to the detriment of the other two in the North (Zaria and Kano).
Again Sir, out of the total of seven new tertiary institutions now approved, only two are in the North (Mubi and Kebbi) while five are spread in the South! This will surely further widen the age-long educational gap/imbalance between the North and the South!

Sir, conversion is more cost-effective than the creation of new institutions. It is on record that your listening ears in correcting anomalies have no bounds, especially taking into cognizance the support of Zaria and Kano to you and your government.
We are very optimistic that you will ensure the inclusion of the upgrade of FCEs Zaria and Kano in the 2024 appropriation alongside their sisters in Owerri and Akure.
Sincerely yours, Abdullahi Muhammad Zaria
