ILN is a product of the partnership between NEPAD Nigeria and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
Speaking when she visited one of the six ILN’s Centres in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Ambassador Njeze stated that government projects should be maintained for effective service delivery.
She said that the project is a platform through which users in various tiers of education – primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, could access information from electronic libraries world-wide.
“It will also enable the federal ministry of education to randomly access data from any educational institutions in the country. This is in line with the core objectives of the NEPAD e – Africa Programme.”
She said the purpose of the visit was to assess the level of performance of the Centre, adding that the Centre, when upgraded with appropriate modern technological infrastructure, will maximally serve several stakeholders, including teachers and students.
The ILN Centres established in five pilot states and the FCT are located in Oyo State (University of Ibadan); Lagos State (University of Lagos, Akoka); Enugu State (University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu Campus); Kano State (Bayero University); Kaduna State (Kaduna Polytechnic); and FCT (Tudun Wada Secondary School, Wuse Zone 4), now under the control of University of Abuja).
