The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Sama’ila Shuaibu Dikko, has urged politicians in the state to be peaceful in their conduct during the primary elections of their parties.

Police spokesman in the state, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the commissioner gave the advice yesterday at a meeting with political party leaders in the state at the command’s headquarters.

He said, “The commissioner read the Riot Act to political party leaders and thugs who may be planning to disrupt the ongoing primaries of the political parties in the state.”

The commissioner also urged the political party leaders to prevail on their supporters to be of good conduct by shunning acts capable of disrupting the peace being enjoyed in the state.

Kiyawa further said the police would not tolerate any surreptitious move by any political party to foment trouble.

He also warned political party leaders and political party aspirants against the use of thugs and weapons during political activities, saying anyone caught would face the full wrath of the law.
