Principal suspended over extortion, high-handedness

Commissioner for Education, Prof. Offiong E. Offiong, directed her suspension, according to a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Anne Odey.
It indicated that the suspension of the principal was sequel to the peaceful demonstration by students of WAPI who have levelled the allegations against her.  
The statement disclosed that the commissioner has also directed the State Secondary Education Board to submit to his office, the recently concluded transfer exercise of public school principals which has generated controversies and crisis in the school system.
The statement disclosed that the commissioner assured all stakeholders and the general public that the allegations raised by the WAPI students and the issues arising from the transfer of principals received adequate attention.
He enjoined all principals, head teachers, teachers and students to work assiduously towards achieving government’s vision for education in the state.
