The spiritual leader and chairman of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide, Prophet Samuel Abidoye, has cautioned against the release of suspected Boko Haram members and bandits arrested by the federal government.

Rather, the spiritual leader called for their proper prosecution and possible jail if found guilty.

According to the centenarian, the suspects would continue to terrorise the members of the society if they are released.

Abidoye stated this while fielding questions at a press briefing on the 82nd International Conference of the church in Ilọrin, Kwara state.

He hailed the decision of the government to decongest the prisons but cautioned against the release of arrested suspected insurgents.

“If we get the buy-in of state judicial authorities and the government of the states, we can pull out 30 per cent of those who are there. Though the decision by the Federal government to release some awaiting trial suspects whose trial has dragged for long is commendable, that should not include suspects arrested for banditry and Boko Haram insurgency.

“No matter the good intentions of government on the release of the awaiting trial inmates, the suspects arrested for Banditry and Boko Haram insurgency when released will continue with their activities and will continue to terrorize members of the Communities.”

The Spiritual leader, while noting that insecurity is increasing in the country, said, “On daily basis, people are being kidnapped with millions paid in ransom adding that Nigerians in diaspora now find it difficult to come home and invest as a result of insecurity.”

He also advised the government to introduce a price control mechanism to check the soaring trend of food prices.

“People find it difficult to eat three square meals per day and in most cases, some people don’t even have anything to eat. Prices of food are on the high side and keep rising on a daily basis”, he noted.

Speaking on the 82nd Conference of the Church themed “Higher Ground” Abidoye said the church has concluded plans to establish industries, filling stations and banks to make life comfortable for members and create employment for our teeming Youths as part of our responsibilities to the society.
