Private schools owners celebrate FCT’s best teachers

The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) FCT Abuja, has celebrated 51 teachers from various private schools across the territory for their exceptional performances in their various schools.

Speaking during the event tagged, ‘NAPPS Star Teachers Award 2017’, in Abuja, the association’s chairperson, Mrs. Iheama Peace, said the gesture was to appreciate teachers who carried out their duties diligently.

“It is to appreciate our star teachers, who in the face of obvious challenges have diligently carried the banner of our profession in a most elegant and enduring manner,” she said.

In selecting the star teachers, she explained that they took into cognizance attributes that are supposed to drive the teaching profession, which include diligence and commitment, interest in the wellbeing of pupils and students, interpersonal relations and ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders.

Others are knowledge of their subject matter, style of delivery, honesty, trust, ability to use ICT and other related technological resources to transfer knowledge.

According to her, another reason for the event was to motivate teachers and get them to know that the world is watching and recording their contributions to their profession.

The Registrar and Chief Executive of Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Prof. Olusegun Josiah Ajiboye, appreciated the efforts of NAPPS in complementing governments’ efforts in the provision of education facilities and services in the country.

Represented by the Deputy Director, Private Schools in TRCN, Ajiboye said the country’s standard of education was declining and that the governments were aware and have tried over the years to ensure improvement.
