Kano state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has called on the business community to actively get involved in agriculture in order to boost incomes that can replace oil revenues.
The governor made the call when he visited  a rice milling company set up by a Kano businessman.
Ganduje said, the state government had taken advantage of the economic crisis in the nation to invest and encourage investors in agricultural activities, adding that government is committed to assisting real farmers with a view of making the farming business more attractive and more profitable.
He added that the state had taken the necessary measures to turn around the economy of the state by assisting potential investors in the agro-industry.
“This administration will as a part of its obligation continue to assist agricultural activities and also encourage private sector investment in agribusiness by making agriculture more attractive and profitable,” said Governor Ganduje.
Earlier in his welcome address the Chairman of A.A. Ibrahim Integrated Rice Mill Company Alhaji Abdulkadir Aminu Ibrahim revealed that company’s production capacity stands at 150,000 metric tons per annum.
He said N6 billion have so far been committed into the company, adding that more money is going to be injected to start operation fully.
