The United Nations (UN) has revealed that 22 per cent of decision-making positions are held by women in Nigeria’s private sector.

Ms Beatrice Eyong, UN’s Women Representative to Nigeria and ECOWAS, stated this on Wednesday in Abuja at the UN Women Nigeria Media Forum 2024.

She said that 35 states in Nigeria had adopted the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act (VAP) as part of progress made in the sensitisation of the citizenry on gender equality and women empowerment.

She noted that states such as Adamawa, Ebonyi, Lagos, Sokoto and Cross River had gone ahead to develop action plans for the implementation of the VAP Act.
