A University Don, Prof. Sulaiman Aruwa has disclosed that private universities relies on 50 percent of teachers from public schools to deliver their mandates.

Prof. Aruwa who is the Dean of Postgraduate School Studies, Nasarawa State University, made the disclosure when answering question from journalists at the 20th anniversary of class 97 of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) alumni, in Abuja, yesterday.

“If you noticed to day public schools are available and are the cheapest in the country but it can hardly think going to the private universities to pay what they are delivering and yet private school relied on 50 percent teachers of public schools to deliver their mandate”.

Aruwa who is an active member of class 97 said that the public schools teachers performed better when they go to private establishments due to motivation.

According to him, quality of education was not declining but lack of teachers’ motivation.

He said if Government boost the morale of the teachers it would go along away in addressing the challenges of education.

He said that lack of infrastructures and provision constant power supply were some of the major challenges facing education sector.

 He said that Government should make educational system functional and boost the morale of it teachers.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Occasion, Kayode Ajiga, said that the essence of their gathering was to celebrate the 20 years of their graduation from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (ABU).

Kayode who is the Managing Director of Kayadot Ltd said class 97 alumni empowered a lot of people in the society.

Also speaking, another member, Jamila Yusuf Abdullahi said the gathering served as a plat form to meet one another and form a strong family.

She said they would use the occasion to discourse vital issues that affects their colleagues.
