In a bid to support vulnerable families and reinforce community welfare during the Christmas season, the South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA) has distributed food items to residents of Anambra State, reaffirming its commitment to grassroots development and social support across the South East.

Speaking at the food distribution event, the National Coordinator of SERHA, Ambassador Belusochukwu Enwere, said the initiative was designed to ensure that the spirit and joy of Christmas reached households across communities, particularly amid prevailing economic challenges.

Enwere noted that Christmas is a season that symbolizes hope, sacrifice, and love, stressing that SERHA’s intervention was a modest but sincere effort to translate these values into practical action.

According to him, the exercise reflects SERHA’s broader vision of touching lives in meaningful ways and standing with the people at critical moments.

“SERHA is here to support families and ensure that the joy of Christmas reaches homes across our communities. While food items may not solve all our problems, they symbolize care, empathy, and responsive leadership,” he said.

He described Anambra State as a symbol of resilience, enterprise, and strong communal bonds, values that are particularly evident during festive periods when families and neighbors come together to share and support one another.

Enwere said SERHA was proud to be part of this tradition of unity and compassion through the distribution exercise.

The SERHA coordinator also expressed appreciation to residents for their continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the Christmas outreach aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government, which places emphasis on welfare, inclusion, and sustainable development.

Addressing beneficiaries, Enwere urged them to make good use of the food items to support their families and celebrate the season in peace and gratitude, adding that SERHA would continue to engage communities through tangible actions rather than rhetoric.

Beyond the festive outreach, Enwere used the occasion to highlight key development initiatives of the Tinubu administration that are impacting the South East, particularly in the areas of education, infrastructure, and regional development.

On human capital development, he said the Federal Government had made significant investments in education through the student loan scheme, with billions of naira disbursed nationwide.

He disclosed that N45.6 billion had been disbursed to students from the South East as part of the broader education support programme, describing the intervention as a critical step toward expanding access to education and empowering young people in the region.

In the area of infrastructure, Enwere pointed to the recommencement of development work on the Eastern Rail Line, which is expected to connect major South East cities such as Aba, Onitsha, Enugu, and Nsukka to the national rail network.

He explained that the rail project would boost trade, ease the movement of goods and people, and stimulate economic activities across the region.

He further highlighted the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) as a landmark step toward addressing long-standing development gaps in the zone.

According to him, the commission is designed to drive economic growth and infrastructural development, supported by a N150 billion South-East Investment Company aimed at fast-tracking industrialisation and regional development.

“These initiatives demonstrate a clear commitment to inclusive development and the integration of the South East into the national economic framework,” Enwere said.

He assured the people of Anambra State and the wider South East that SERHA would remain steadfast in promoting welfare, unity, and sustainable development through continued engagement with communities and support for policies that improve living standards.

As Nigerians celebrate Christmas, Enwere called on residents to renew their faith in a brighter future, strengthen communal bonds, and continue to support initiatives that bring hope and development to their communities.

He wished the people of Anambra State, the South East, and Nigeria at large a peaceful and joyous Christmas, while expressing optimism that sustained collaboration between government, civic groups, and communities would deliver lasting development across the region.
