Supporters of President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday came out in solidarity with the president amidst planned August 1 hardship protest.

The president’s supporters urged the organisers of tomorrow’s protest to explore dialogue.

The supporters included members of pro-democracy groups, including Civil Society Organisations, the Nigerian Interfaith Forum, Bloggers/Content Creators Forum, and Women Supporting Women for Good Governance.

During a solidarity rally at the Unity Fountain, Abuja on Wednesday, the supporters said the focus of every Nigerian should be on fostering peace and development.

Speaking on behalf of the groups, Dr. Obiora James urged Nigerians to explore alternative methods of engagement with the government.

James, who is the President of CSOs emphasised the need for constructive dialogue to protect the nation’s stability and progress.

He said: “Our focus should be on fostering peace and development,” warning that protests could be hijacked by criminals, resulting in violence and destruction.

Also speaking, Leader of Bloggers/Content Creators Forum, Mahmood Kyari noted that while peaceful protest was a democratic right, there was a risk of it being exploited, leading to potential chaos and setbacks.

The Leader of Women Supporting Women for Good Governance, Mrs. Magret Thomas, also endorsed the idea of dialogue as a more constructive approach.

On his part, Bishop Benjamin Odeh of the Interfaith Forum called on all faith communities to prioritise peaceful engagement with the Federal Government rather than confrontation.
