The popularity of herbal medications has sky rocketed in recent years as more and more people realize that these herbal medications can be used in place of mainstream medication with the same benefits such as treating the problem without all the side-effects that come along with many mainstream medications.
One of these benefits is that they rarely cause side-effects. In fact, many of these herbal medications are used to treat those that have allergic reactions or allergies in general.
Prof. Maurice Iwu, a professor of pharmacology, and the chairman of Bioresources Development Group (BDG) gave this advice at the exposition on natural medicine by Bioresources in Lagos in the bid to promote healthy living.
According to Prof. Iwu, 90 percent of the diseases adult suffer may have been contracted before birth when the woman was exposed to chemical foods.
He said there is a clear correlation between health and diet adding that the intake of healthy food can serve as medicine to the body.
Prof. Iwu, also said to promote a healthy living circle, epigenetics, exercise and healthy food are the three major genre of healthy living.
Speaking at the exposition, he said that most African countries have developed their herbs, natural products and healthy food to fight effectively against ailments. He said paying more attention to natural resources, herbal products and dietary supplements will help improve healthy lives.
Some of the herbal products exhibited by  Prof. Iwu’s organisation include; the Immunovit-IHP , The Erovit-IHP, IHP Virgin Coconut Oil, Garcinia-IHP,Vernonia Ocimum Tea, Bissap Tea, Moringa Oleifera which are all organically grown, handpicked and manufactured by the BDG Limited.
He explained that the Immunovit-IHP is an immune booster which fight against a wide variety of ailments, The Erovit-IHP deals with age redefination, IHP Virgin Coconut Oil is used to promote weight loss and prevent heart diseases,The Garcinia-IHP is used as cold remedy, Vernonia Ocimum tea which controls the blood sugar level and the Bissap tea which heals issues with the heart.
