Professor Haruna Musa has officially taken over as the 12th Vice-Chancellor of the Bayero University Kano (BUK), succeeding Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, who completed his tenure as the 11th VC.
The new VC is a renowned expert in Polymer Chemistry and was appointed by the University Council on July 3, 2025.
In a handover ceremony that officially marked the beginning of his tenure, Professor Musa pledged to lead a transparent and inclusive administration.
The new VC expressed his commitment to teamwork, consultation, and dedication to elevate the university’s standard to a globally recognised level.

He also commended his predecessor, Professor Abbas, for his impactful leadership and expressed deep appreciation for the mentorship he received while serving as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
He also vowed to build on the legacy of his predecessors, whom he said had set the university on a progressive path.
