About 197 newly registered estate surveyors and valuers were inducted in Abuja last Wednesday with charge to uphold professional ethics.
Dishonesty, false professional statements, immorality and fraud are considered serious professional misconducts among estate surveyors and valuers.
Minister of Power, Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola, represented by Mrs Margaret Okolo-Ebube reminded the inductees of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government’s averse to corruption ways so it will deal with those who use their positions to perpetrate criminal acts.
Fashola said with the fall in oil price, government is diversifying the economy and estate surveyors and valuers are greatly needed considering that investments in the built-environment have  grown beyond the N1trillion mark.
Similarly, the chairman of Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON), William Odudu said the board had embarked upon registration of more estate surveyors and valuers not to bring down standards but to curtail activities of quacks in estate agency.
