A renowned professor of Environmental Resource Management, Abdullahi Liman Tukur has emerged as vice chancellor, Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH) Yola.
MAUTECH Registrar, Halima Bala said Tukur was succeeding Professor Kyari Muhammad whose tenure of office as vice chancellor of the institution would expire in June.
Born in Kilbawo, Jada Local Government in Adamawa State in 1961, Professor Tukur obtained BSc degree in Geography from Bayero University Kano in 1984, masters degree from University of Maiduguri in 1988 and PhD in Resource Planning from University of Jos in 1997. He completed a certificate course in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems at the University of Durham in the united Kingdom in 1993.
He held several positions in the university which include Director, Centre for Distance Learning, Coordinator of the Consultancy Services and Acting Dean, School of Environmental Sciences.
During his days in public service, Tukur served as Secretary to the State Government and as Executive Chairman, Adamawa State Universal Education Board and Governing Council chairman, State Polytechnic Yola.
Some of the people interviewed by Daily Trust described Professor Abdullahi Tukur as a principled, hard working and well organised leader who left his mark wherever he worked.
