The Mercy Corps Nigeria, in collaboration with Isa Wali Empowerment Initiative, has launched “Girls Improving Resilience through Livelihoods and Health (GIRL-H)” programm at Ungogo LGA of Kano State.
The programme, held at the palace of Ungogo’s District Head, Abdulkadir Ahmad Chedi, is a 36-month multi-country programme funded by an anonymous donor targeting 12,000 adolescent girls, boys and young people aged 10 to 24 in five LGAs of Kano.
The programme is aimed at improving the well-being of adolescents and young people by increasing their access to and uptake of life skills and financial literacy, as well as foster pathways to economic opportunities in Nigeria.
The Country Director, Ndubisi Anyanwu, said programme was increasing Mercy Corps Nigeria’s reach to vulnerable groups, particularly in Northern Nigeria, which now had over 500,000 direct participants.
