A prominent Hausa traditional musician, Sirajo Mai Asharalle, has died in Katsina at the age of 66.
It was learnt that late Mai Asharalle died at a federal government hospital in Katsina after a prolonged illness.
Sirajo Mai Asharalle, who dominated the music scene across the North in the 1990s, died on Thursday and was buried on Friday according to Islamic rites.
A funeral prayer was later held at his residence in Katsina.
He was survived by three wives, twenty two children and 46 grand children
In a condolence message, Professor Aliyu Kankara, a scholar of the works of the late Alhaji Mamman Shata, described Mai Asharalle as a trusted associate and close companion of Mamman Shata.
The late Mai Asharalle was also among the early musicians who promoted the PDP during the administration of the late Umaru Musa Yar’adua in Katsina.
