The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has called on the 2021 Batch C Stream 1 corps members to use social media positively in order to promote peace and unity in the country.

The Director General made the call on Tuesday during the swearing – in  ceremony of corps members at the orientation camp, Wannune in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State. 

Represented by the NYSC State Coordinator, Abe Dankaro Ashumate, the DG also advised the young graduates to avoid all forms of social vices such as cultism,drug abuse and other harmful behaviours and equally urged them to be security conscious by avoiding all activities that are prone to danger.

In Osun state, the NYSC also urged youth corps members to shun divisive tendencies and spread love to promote national unity.

The DG stated this through the state NYSC coordinator, Mrs Shokpeka Winifred Ngozi, during the official opening ceremony of the 2021 Batch C, Stream 1 orientation course and swearing-in of 1544 corps members comprising 778 males and 766 females.

Chief Judge of the State, Oyebola Adepele Ojo in his charge to the corps members said, “Always use the news media, which has made the world a global village, to project you, the scheme and the nation positively. Do not use your social media handles to spread hatred or peddle fake news but learn to spread stories of triumph, kindness and happiness everywhere you go.”
