Prophet docked over motorcycle theft

A 32-year-old self-acclaimed prophet, Opeyemi Sunday, has been docked at an Ado-Ekiti magistrate court for alleged stealing.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leranmo, Sunday committed the offence on August 25, 2019 at about 12.30pm in Afao-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Inspector Leranmo alleged that the accused person unlawfully stole an unregistered motorcycle, property of one Yusuf Seyi.  The Inspector said the offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Vol. 1, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012. Sunday pleaded not guilty and his counsel, Mr Timileyin Omotosho, asked the court to grant him bail in liberal terms, promising that Sunday would not jump bail.

Chief Magistrate Ade Lawal granted the accused person bail in the sum of N50,000, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till September 11, 2019 for further hearing.
