Students from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, held a peaceful demonstration yesterday in response to the alleged killing of a fellow student by a police officer.
It was learnt that the incident occurred during a police intervention in a dispute between two individuals.
A witness, Abiodun Oluwaseun Laurel, in a post on X, said the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when the police officer while trying to resolve the dispute, fired gunshots that resulted in the death of one student and injuries to two others.
SP Adewale Osifeso, the police spokesman in Oyo State, confirmed the incident, adding that an investigation is currently underway.
