Voters across respective voting units in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital have protested over non availability of voting materials in their units.

The protest spaked heavy shooting and created tension at the INEC office in the state and its environs, as protesters insisted that the people of Atissa and Epie polling units must exercise their constitutional rights.

The shooting started when the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Alex Hart arrived at the scene to address the crowd as the operatives of Department of State Services  (DSS) with him tried to disperse the crowd.

The protesters alleged that they were disenfrachised, as there were no officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at Imgbi, Azikoro, Kpansia, Okaka and Opolo communities in the state capital.

As at the time of filing the report, the protest seems to be escalated as protesters were seen marching towards Swali market area.
