Dozens of youths in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State yesterday staged a protest over the nomination of candidate for the position of education secretary by the local government council.
The youth leader, Comrade Joshua C. Magaji, who spoke to newsmen in Kaduna, said the outcome of the employment exercise raised more questions than answers, adding that the person said to have emerged as winner in the written exams actually got marks above what he bargained for.
“We are concerned over the recent screening of the 23 candidates who applied for the position of the Education Secretary which took place on the 15th October 2015 at the council chambers of Kauru Local Government secretariat in Kauru. The exercise raises more questions than answers as the outcome of the screening interview left much to be desired. Many citizens of Kauru Local Government Area question the rationale behind the nomination of the three candidates.
“The problem and question here is that all the three shortlisted candidates come from one chiefdom. It is not possible for the screening committee to say that no candidate from both Chawai and Kumana chiefdoms met the criteria. Moreover, it is shocking to note that the person that topped in the written exams didn’t even come close to the required marks in the oral test,” he said.
Magaji, therefore called for the cancellation of the exercise and urged the protesters to be law abiding.
