Thousands of Shi’ite members yesterday thronged the streets of Kano and Katsina protesting the killings of their members in Zaria.
Addressing the protesters, in Katsina the state leader, Malam Yakubu Yahaya berated president Muhammadu Buhari for maintaining sealed lips while their members were being killed for no just reason.
He said, the president’s  inaction was a cause  for concern saying that this will spell doom for the government as innocent lives were wasted without him taking actions.
“For over 40 years we have been attacked, killed and no one seems to care, we are not trouble makers, we know our rights and we shall pursue it,” he said.
Meanwhile, thousands of members of the sect had staged a peaceful procession in Kano in protest against what they termed military brutality on their colleagues in Zaria town, Kaduna state.
The angry members of the sect, who kicked off the procession at 12am on Sunday, went round some parts of the state metropolitan before they returned to their Markaz (centre) at 4am.
Also, yesterday morning, members of the sect in another procession, matched from Fagge Juma’at Mosque to Ibrahim Taiwo road through Kantin-Kwari market to Kofar-Mata to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital and finally stopped at Kano central mosque.
Malam Mohammed Abbari, leader of the group in Gombe State appeal to the government to release their leader.
He said what occurred is against their right to practice their religion in Nigeria as they were in this practice for over 30 years.
“If we are in democracy there is need for everyone to be allowed to practice his or her religion based on the constitution without hindrance, we are calling on the Nigeria government, that was elected by people in which we are among the people that elected the government  to give us our right to practice our religion as it is in the constitution.”
Mohammed  urged “the government to direct the military to vacate from the resident of leaders Zakzaky and  to come to our aid, because a lot of our members were killed and many sustained injuries including women and children”.
