Maccido made this known during the opening ceremony of the 8th Annual National Conference organised by school of vocational and technical education of the college.
Speaking on the theme of the conference: “Economic Transformation: The Role of Vocational and Technical Education in Sustainable Entrepreneurial Development”, the provost said no country can achieve its objectives without paying serious attention to vocational and technical educations.
“Failure to incorporate vocational and technical education in the entire process of Nigeria’s development will make nonsense of her national development dreams and efforts. We must, therefore, begin to embrace vocational and technical education in the same way other nations embraced it.”
In her speech, Hajiya Halima Sidi Bamalli, the Dean, School of Vocational and Technical Education, observed that the economic competitiveness of a country depended on the skills of its workforce, adding: “Based on social efficiency theory, schools should prepare and supply workers with appropriate knowledge and skills to enhance their productivity and, therefore, promote economic growth.
“Vocational and technical education is a tool for addressing the economic and social crisis that are threatening the political and economic stability of our dear nation.”
