PSG, Arsenal, dominate UCL team of the Season, Kvaratskhelia named player of the season

UEFA has selected eight players from Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal into the 2025/26 team of the season.

Five players were selected from defending champions PSG by UEFA’s Technical Observer Group, while three were chosen from Arsenal.

Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Ousmane Dembele were selected from PSG, while Declan Rice, Gariel, and David Raya are Arsenal’s representatives.

Losing semi-finalists Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid have two players and one player in the team respectively.

Bayern’s representatives are Harry Kane and Michael Olise, with Marcus Llorente for Atletico Madrid.

Five players are appearing in the team for the season for the first time, while six players including Marquinhos, Mendes, Vitinha, Dembele, Rice, and Kane have been selected on multiple occasions.

Kvaratskhelia wins UCL player of the season award

UEFA also announced PSG’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as the player of the season for the 2025/26 UCL season.

He replaces Dembele who won the award last season. The 25-year-old winger scored 10 goals and six assists this season, and won the penalty that restored parity for PSG before the club went on to win the UCL final on penalties.

His 16-goal contribution makes him the first PSG player to produce such number of goal involvements in a UCL season.

He also provided 10 goal involvements in the knockout stages, and set the record as the first player to have a goal contribution in seven consecutive knockout-stage matches within a single campaign.

He also joins Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the only set of players to have 10 or more goals and five or more assists in a single UCL season.
