The Central Parent Teachers Association (PTA) of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) yesterday donated 5,000 exercise books to schools within the council.

The Chairman of the association, Tanko Bello said the donation of the books was prompted after the association realized that most children do not go to school with exercise books.

“We parents cannot fold our arms and leave everything about education of our children and wards in the hands of government alone,” he said.

He said schools will not be allowed to charge excessive fees adding that the association was working with the Quality Assurance and Inspectorate department to always monitor what is payable in schools and how it is used.

In his remark, The Education Secretary, AMAC, Haruna Karshi assured the parents that the issue of fees and levies will be made reasonable for parents.
