Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has said government officials in the country no longer have the gut to loot public funds because they are afraid of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ortom stated this in an interview with State House journalists yesterday shortly after meeting behind closed-doors with the president at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
He said those who might want to divert funds meant for public service knew that Buhari would arrest them even if they run to Abuja.
Ortom said everybody knew what the incumbent administration stood for, maintaining that this was the change needed in the country.
“I’ve said that and it has become a slogan in Benue State that when you chop money, money will chop you, and people are already sitting up and of course, if you escape Benue and come to Abuja, Buhari will arrest you, and everybody knows what this administration stands for, and that is the change we need in this country.”
The governor said despite all challenges of the dwindling economy, his government had been able to pay May, June and July salaries in full.
“As I talk to you, most of the government departments and agencies that their PVCs were ready for July have already received the alerts for July because the Bible says a worker deserves his wages,” he said.
