A class four pupil of Local Education Authority (LEA) Model III Primary School, Kubwa, in Bwari Area Council was electrocuted on Wednesday in the school premises.
Sources who spoke to our reporter said the deceased pupil was sitting with two other pupils under a tent at the school’s recreation park when the incident happened around 1:00pm.
City News gathered that an electrical wire connecting the school’s office block, the security office and the recreation centre malfunctioned and current leaked to the iron poles of the tent.
A witness said, “The boy ignorantly grabbed an iron pole and his hand was glued there. One of the teachers used a dried stick to separate the victim from the pole and the boy fell down; unconscious.”
The witness added that the victim was rushed to the Kubwa General Hospital where he was confirmed dead.
Effort to speak with any of the teachers who came to the hospital was not successful, but one of the doctors who attended to him confirmed that the victim was already dead when he was brought to the hospital.
When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kubwa, CSP Ayobami Surajudeen, explained that on getting the information, he sent some policemen to the hospital where the incident was confirmed.
CSP Surajudeen added that the remains of the pupil had already been taken for burial when the police arrived.
