Super Eagles forward, Paul Onuachu is a major doubt ahead of the clash against Central African Republic (CAR) in the 2022 World Cup second round qualifier on Thursday.
According to reports from the Super Eagles camp in Lagos, the Genk forward didn’t train with the rest of the squad as he was seen with a bandage wrapped around his ankle on his right leg.
Similarly, at the time of press on Tuesday, Maduka Okoye was yet to report to camp. The shot-stopper, who impressed in Sparta Rotterdam’s loss to PSV on Sunday is the only player being expected in camp.
According to an update on the social media platform of the Super Eagles, 22 players are already in camp and have had some training sessions.
The Super Eagles will be looking to seal qualification for the final playoff rounds with a win in the doubleheader.
Gernot Rohr’s men host Group C’s bottom side on October 7 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium before taking a trip to Douala three days later for the second leg.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is waiting on the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) for the number of fans that would be allowed into the Teslim Balogun stadium to watch the Super Eagles play against Central African Republic (CAR).
